Dark Web monitoring

Detect exposed credentials and data before they are used against your business.

Exposure

Is your data already circulating in the hands of cybercriminals?

  • A business email address.
  • An old password.
  • Credentials compromised in a third-party service data breach.

It may seem trivial. Yet this information can be used to try to access your mailbox, your cloud applications or other company resources.

Dark Web monitoring detects when information associated with your organisation appears in compromised data so that you can react quickly.

With AWSMTECH, you gain visibility on part of the risk that usually remains invisible.

Detect earlier. React faster. Reduce your exposure.

Third-party breaches

A breach can happen far from your business

But its consequences can still reach you.

Your company can have good security measures in place and still see some of its information compromised. Why?

Because an employee may have used their business address on an external service that itself suffered a data breach. Information associated with that address can then circulate in compromised databases.

Your infrastructure was not necessarily attacked directly. But your organisation may now be exposed.

Credential stuffing

The risk doesn't stop at the password

When a compromised credential is discovered, the first question is often: “But this password is old — is it really serious?”

The risk comes notably from password reuse. A credential from a breach can be tested against other services as part of automated credential stuffing attacks.

And when the same practices are used in a professional environment, an incident originating from a third-party service can gradually become a risk for the business.

Mailbox

Your business mailbox deserves particular attention

A compromised mailbox can open many other doors.

Your mailbox is much more than a communication tool. It is frequently linked to many other digital services, notably through account recovery or reset mechanisms.

A compromised mailbox can therefore significantly increase the potential impact of credential theft. That is why identity protection has become a central element of modern cybersecurity.

Method

How does Dark Web monitoring work?

  1. 01

    Monitor

The service searches for the presence of information associated with your organisation in the compromised data sources covered by the solution.

  2. 02

    Detect

When an item matching the monitored scope is identified, an alert allows the exposure to be examined.

  3. 03

    Qualify

Not all alerts carry the same level of risk. It is necessary to determine whether the information is relevant, whether the account still exists and whether measures must be taken.

  4. 04

    React

Depending on the situation, remediation actions may be required, for example changing a compromised password or reviewing the account's protection mechanisms.

  5. 05

    Strengthen

An exposure can also reveal behaviours or protections to improve: password policy, MFA, awareness training or identity management.

An alert is only useful if it leads to an appropriate action.

Identity protection

Dark Web monitoring and identity protection

A large part of your security naturally focuses on what happens inside your environment. But some information that could represent a risk may already be circulating outside.

Dark Web monitoring provides this additional visibility. It allows, in particular, searching for signs of exposure associated with the monitored scope and triggering an analysis when something is detected.

At AWSMTECH, we consider this capability an element of a broader strategy of identity protection and human risk reduction.

Reaction

An alert is not enough

Monitoring must lead to a reaction capability.

Receiving a report that a password has been compromised does not solve the problem.

Monitoring is an alert signal that gains its value when combined with measures such as MFA and other monitoring mechanisms.

  2. Analysis
  3. Remediation
  4. Reinforcement

BeeSecure

A component of BeeSecure

Dark Web monitoring is not an isolated cyber product. It is part of a security approach that can combine, depending on the chosen service level:

Because a company is not protected by a single tool. It is protected by several complementary lines of defence.

Human factor

The human factor at the heart of the risk

The goal is to identify the risk and reduce it.

A credential leak does not necessarily mean an employee made a mistake. The information may come from an external compromise or from a service on which a business address was used.

The goal is therefore not to single out anyone responsible.

With BeeSecure, the human factor moves from a blind spot to a visible, better-controlled part of your cybersecurity.

Limitations

What Dark Web monitoring does not do

  • It cannot wipe the Internet

Information that has already circulated may have been copied or republished. Monitoring aims primarily to detect exposure and enable a reaction, not to guarantee the disappearance of the data.

  • It does not replace MFA

Monitoring detects certain exposures. Multifactor authentication adds an extra layer of protection to accounts.

  • It does not replace a cybersecurity strategy

Dark Web monitoring is an additional sensor, not complete protection. Its real value appears when it is integrated into a framework combining identity protection, awareness training, vulnerability management and incident response capability.

Why AWSMTECH

Why choose AWSMTECH?

A risk-oriented approach

We do more than hand you technical information. We place it in the context of the risk for your organisation.

An integrated approach

Dark Web monitoring is part of the BeeSecure cybersecurity ecosystem.

A focus on identities

Because protecting accounts and access has become essential in cloud and Microsoft 365 environments.

Human support

When an exposure is identified, understanding what it means is as important as receiving the alert.

A Swiss partner

AWSMTECH supports Swiss SMEs and organisations with an approach combining IT, cybersecurity and governance.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

It consists of monitoring certain compromised data sources to detect the presence of information associated with the scope defined for your organisation.

Dark Web monitoring

Do you know what is already circulating about your business?

A data breach can remain invisible for a long time. Detecting it earlier makes it possible to react before it turns into a bigger problem. AWSMTECH helps you monitor your exposure and integrate this visibility into a global cybersecurity strategy.
