AI at Work in Switzerland: A Growing Trend Often Lacking Structure

A recent study conducted by KPMG, in collaboration with the University of Melbourne, reveals that artificial intelligence (AI) is now widespread across professional environments in Switzerland. According to the survey, 77% of Swiss workers use AI in their daily professional activities — a rate significantly higher than the global average of 58%.
However, this rapid adoption comes with concerning practices: over half of Swiss users admit to using AI in ways that contradict their company’s policies, such as uploading sensitive data into free, public AI tools. Additionally, nearly three-quarters of respondents say they do not verify the outputs produced by AI, and 63% have already encountered errors in their work due to its use.
These behaviours highlight a lack of awareness and training. While 57% of respondents feel confident in their ability to use AI effectively, fewer than half report having received any formal training in artificial intelligence.
