AI At The Service of Windows 11

Microsoft Wants AI to Fix Windows 11 in Case of Failure: It’s Patented!

A few days ago, Microsoft filed a new patent suggesting that AI could diagnose and automatically fix issues on Windows 11. Here’s what we know.

AI-Assisted Computer Repair

Artificial intelligence is everywhere, and Microsoft’s ecosystem of products and services is no exception. In fact, AI is already integrated into Windows 11 through the Copilot assistant. The Redmond-based company seems determined to give AI even more power within Windows 11.

Indeed, a patent published on February 6, 2025, describes a generative AI-based system that analyzes errors to identify their causes and suggest—or even apply—fixes. A review of this document indicates that the system is primarily designed for developers but could also benefit end users.

This AI would provide an intelligent support system directly embedded into the OS. It could be useful for generating detailed reports on PC failures or helping developers fix bugs more efficiently.

Towards a More Interactive and Collaborative AI

This AI is not limited to error detection and correction. It can also explain how code snippets work within a chat session. The document includes several examples, such as one where a developer asks the AI to explain the root cause of a problem.

In its documentation, Microsoft details how this system works, especially when used in a collaborative mode. “The generative AI system then provides a response to the requester and/or takes actions to assess or fix the detected issue,” the document states. These upcoming innovations show that Microsoft continues to place AI at the core of its ecosystem, including within Windows.
